I edited the text to add this at the end:

"I also do not care about whether an individual person cared before or you care for it now – of course I am disgusted by how long it took for some people to be able to actively engage with everything going on, especially us in Germany. If an AI generated Image campaign is what gets the populace going, then it is what it is. More people need to be active, especially the ones living in countries where their freedom is built on imperialism. The ego has no place in resistance. What I am describing above is more so that I care about the perpetrators to be at the center of our wrath now."

Also not to forget how ALL EYES ON RAFAH repeats the same media loop as the black square for BLM 2020: if anything, it diffuses attention from the actual multi-national-scale infrastructural megaproject that is GAZA 2035, orchestrated in Unison by the US, EU, Saudi, and Israel nationstates under the auspice of progressiveness. So messy, but as a plan so unlikely to be rivaled by IG posting...

Yes! It is a framework of nation states aligning their interest to stay in and regulate imperialism. And I agree, IG cannot rival none of that, it can support the resistance though on a global scale i think (one of the many ways we can resist on and off line).

This is such a relevant perspective on the ALL EYES ON RAFAH that I haven’t thought about! I do have my issues on the matter but it was related on the AI generated picture going viral where people who hadn’t said a peep for 8 months were posting and calling it a day and the performativeness of it all as it is a clean AI picture when we know that Rafah is full of blood and destruction all over and that there are journalists on the grounds risking their lives documenting what’s going on and one of their pictures could have been used to go viral, because having this clean AI picture just eases the western mind and veer us away from bearing witness! You are so right, the shift should be reversed, we have seen enough brown and black bodies deceased, the perpetrators should be shamed and blamed, the West needs to be torn down to pieces, 500 hundred years of genocide and suffering and for some reason they still managed to make themselves look like the good guys! The empire is falling, it is inevitable at this point and I really think we are seeing the sparks of a revolution incoming! That’s the only thing keeping me up and going!

So incredibly felt. Thank you for expressing how hard it is to see dead bodies while trying to stay informed. I recently tweeted about how I feel it's unfair to shame people for being unable to view graphic photos of dead bodies to spread awareness is a bit unfair and felt so incredibly guilty for doing so. Thank you for articulately how I’ve been feeling <3

yes, extremely accurate. We are always looking at the victim. Trauma porn is popular and sells media, people feel like they're 'doing something' by having feelings of empathy for the victims, which lets them move on with their lives feeling that they've 'done their part' by feeling sad about it.

It's a trap.

You've done your part when you figure out what you can do about it. Who you can pester, whom can you write to, whom can you donate to, who can you call out in your own circle. Feeling sad isn't a useful moral action.

Israel is clearly unbothered by all of us looking at Rafah. I understand the concept - don't move on to other things, don't get distracted by concerts and ball games, don't get fooled by what the politicians are saying - stay aware. Stay woke, as black activists would say. But we're well past that phase of just being aware. It's the time to make all the possible noise.

Yes!

"Looking solely at dead bodies and destruction helps me to get only so far as to activate me. "

It's a start but that's it. We can say "this is so sad" and feel like we've done something, but then what? What is the action?

Thank you ! And yes, the Palestinians are not documenting it for no reason, the reporters are not documenting it for no reason. They are doing what they are able to do, but what is our responsibility? Only to watch? What can we do? Understanding our own (national and local politics) implications and organise, demonstrate and demonstrate and demonstrate.
